NYSCA/NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant
The program distributed $1,000 to New York State artists with a disability who experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis. Over three cycles, the program distributed $261,000 in total funding.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The NYSCA/NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant program distributed one-time cash grants of $1,000 to artists with a disability experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis to cover art related expenses. The grant was open to visual, media, music, performing, literary, and multidisciplinary artists living in New York State. The third and final cycle was also open to artists living in New York State, including those within the five boroughs of New York City.
Applicants needed to be practicing artists who were able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their arts practice and career. Applicants demonstrated that they participated, created, or maintained their artistic practice and provided documentation from any time over the past 4 years (2019 to date). Applicants were encouraged to share a past public engagement such as an exhibition, show, community-based program, performance, or other public presentation of the artist’s work within their application. Only those who were current New York State residents and maintained residency for a minimum of 12 months were considered.
Grant recipients were not made public, and personal information will never be disclosed or publicized without prior consent.
This program was made possible through New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor’s Office and the New York State Legislature.
